Ebonyi State Government Absorbs 353 IMPACT-Engaged Skilled Birth Attendants into Civil Service
In a historic move hailed by the World Bank, healthcare stakeholders, and community leaders across the state, His Excellency, The Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, has formally approved the permanent absorption of 353 IMPACT-engaged Skilled Birth Attendants (SBAs) and adhoc health workers into the Ebonyi State Civil Service.This landmark policy decision addresses the longstanding human resource deficit in primary healthcare and ensures that maternal, neonatal, and child health gains made under the IMPACT project remain sustainable for decades to come. The engaged birth attendants have been deployed to Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) primary health centres across all 164 wards in the 13 LGAs, providing 24/7 skilled delivery, antenatal care, and postnatal services to rural mothers.Stakeholders noted that this policy makes Ebonyi State a national benchmark in primary healthcare workforce institutionalization.
